On the flight to New York, someone told me that the sunrise on the Brooklyn Bridge is spectacular. And so I had a plan for my short visit to New York: Getting up early, being on top of the Brooklyn Bridge right on time to watch the sunrise and then listening to the super-extended version of Frank Sinatra’s “My Way” or alternatively “Empire State of Mind” from Alicia Keys on my phone. Just to get into the ultimate New York City mood.
The best thing about flight to North America: I finally manage to get up early due to the jetlag. And I even get to see the sunrise for once. With a hotel next to the beach in South Beach: even better. But what isn’t beautiful in Miami? Beautiful people, beautiful beaches, beautiful light – beauty was born in Miami. I just imagined Montreal and Canada in December really differently. It was my first time in Montreal, let alone Canada, and I expected snow. A lot of snow. Huge masses of snow. Instead I arrived during some unusual warm days in December and the last snow has just melt. No Canadian winter wonderland for me. What a shame, a bit of snow would have made the perfect background for my Christmas shopping in Montreal.
