I started my trip to Vietnam in Hanoi - and I was genuinely surprised. I don't know what exactly impressed me, maybe it was the smooth experience at the immigration at the airport (who knew that entering a communist country would be so easy) or the curious girl selling me my first SIM card at one of the tiny airport booths.
Is it okay to fall in love with a tourist trap like Hoi An? That's the question I was asking myself all the time when I headed to Hoi An. After traveling through the North of Vietnam, enjoying a cruise through Halong Bay, staying a few days in busy Hanoi and the calmer Hue, Hoi An gave me a totally different experience.
